Arto was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1977. In his early childhood, due to his father's profession for the Finnish Embassy, Arto had the opportunity to visit many places including New York where he grew up as a child and began learning the piano.
After returning to Finland at the age of 13, Arto began composing music. Although he had played the piano for sometime, he quickly recognized the possibilities of modern technology and began using the synthesizer to produce his music. Today Arto uses various electronic instruments and an acoustic guitar to create his unique style of sound.
"...I guess it is because of my Finnish roots that I am naturally fascinated with nature and technology. It forms a huge basis into my music. It seems I'm always trying to find a peaceful harmony between these two forces in everything I do."
INTERVIEW
"The music of Arto Rusi is an exotique combination of electronic, film, pop, and new age music. Yet Arto likes to use the term "cinematic pop..."
"Like cinema, I try to convey eternity and infinity to audiences by giving them an opportunity to picture and feel "moments" while listening to my music."
"You've said this process of "image simulation" in our minds can unlock our spiritual doors."
"Our imagination can guide us to an external world where our inner beings can be found. I simply want to realize in music what a lot of popular poets of the romantic era managed to accomplish with literature - open up the world of our imagination and make us see and feel images of natural beauty."
"Your music has a notion of combining itself with a visual experience. Can you explain this..."
"By adding music to visuals we normally get film. By adding visuals to music we get music video. But if we combine the two in the form of one or the other, well then we get visual music, or musical visuals. It's almost like perceptive science..."
